The construction of the Oil Terminal in the Ust-Luga Commercial Sea Port is a milestone in the development history of the transport and logistics system in the North-West Region of the Russian Federation. Once muddy and deserted, the coast of the Luga Bay has been transformed, and in place of an overgrown bay, an alluvial raised beach was created, where, in an area of 100 ha, the necessary structures were constructed with modern berths, railway tracks and other facilities of the Oil Product Terminal.
The terminal's technical parameters: the tank farm is designed for storing 960,000 cu. m of oil products; four two-way rail tank car unloading racks, including for discharge of high-viscosity products, ensure a simultaneous unloading of 526 tank wagons; the berths with a total length of 1 km are designed for tankers of 300,000 dwt; for heating the products, a 120 MW automated thermal oil boiler house was constructed, that has no analogs in Russia in terms of its power; to ensure an uninterrupted and guaranteed power supply in the required amount, own external power supply grids were constructed as part of an overhead power line, and the 100 kV Slobodka substation with a transformer capacity of 2×63 MVA.
