Ethanol is a commodity futures contract on denatured fuel bioethanol standard ASTM D4806, traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and serves as a key tool for hedging risks in the energy sector of the US as the primary producer and consumer of renewable fuel in the transportation sector. In November 2025, prices ranged from 1.62 USD/gallon to 1.75 USD/gallon with an average level of 1.70 USD/gallon. The price is based on continuous physically settled CME futures of Denatured Fuel Ethanol ASTM D4806, acting as a pricing benchmark for the bioethanol market in the US.
