The index reflects the change in the level of consumer prices, with the exception of goods and services influenced by seasonality, relative to the same period a year earlier (yoy). In the United States, the costs of food and energy are excluded from the calculation of core inflation. The energy is petroleum products and utilities. US inflation data is published 10-15 days after the reporting month.
