Опис індексу
In 1989, it was decided to change the theme of Australian investment coins, and to start issuing gold coins with the image of a kangaroo. Since then, the design of these gold coins has changed annually, but they always depict Australia’s most famous marsupial kangaroo. The limited annual circulation creates additional numismatic value. The coins are Australia’s legal tender. The gold sample in coins is 9999. In terms of the quality of coinage and packaging, Australian coins are significantly superior to investment coins from many countries, with the exception of Chinese Pandas. The kangaroo-patterned nugget should not be confused with Australian coins of the even more limited-edition Lunar Calendar (Lunars) series. The latter depict animals of the Chinese lunar calendar. Despite the limited circulation, Australian coins are sold in millions of ounces. According to the GFMS Gold Survey 2017, Australia ranks 8th in the world with a market share of 4.5%. Obverse: Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. On top is the inscription ELIZABETH II — Elizabeth II, AUSTRALIA — Australia and the year of issue of the coin. The face value of the coin is 100 DOLLARS. On the underside of the portrait there is an inscription "IRB", indicating the initials of the author of the depicted portrait, Ian Rank-Broadley. Reverse: An image of a kangaroo, the symbol of the fifth continent. The image changes every year. The inscription AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO is an Australian kangaroo. The year of issue of the coin, the weight of 1 oz and 0.9999 gold samples are also indicated. The 2007 coin has the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN NUGGET, which is where the coin’s name came from.
